Antonio Conte Calls Tottenham’s Champions League Qualification a “Miracle”

Antonio Conte, the former manager of Tottenham, described the team’s qualification for the Champions League in 2022 as a “miracle.” Conte took charge of Tottenham in November 2021 when the team was in eighth place in the Premier League. Despite facing numerous challenges, Tottenham secured a fourth-place finish on the final day of the season.

“We didn’t celebrate like it was a miracle because I am used to winning,” Conte said in an interview with the Telegraph. Having won four Serie A titles as a manager, Conte’s high expectations for success are evident.

Conte’s time at Tottenham was marked by both accomplishment and controversy. The team was knocked out of the Champions League last 16 in March 2023, and Conte departed by mutual consent three weeks later after calling the players “selfish” following a draw at Southampton.

Despite the challenges, Conte expressed that he has “good feelings about Tottenham” and will keep the experience close to his heart. His tenure may have been short-lived, but it left a lasting impression on the Italian manager.

Tottenham’s journey under Conte was a rollercoaster of emotions, from celebrating the “miracle” of Champions League qualification to facing the reality of a premature departure. Though his time at the club was brief, it was impactful, and Conte will undoubtedly carry the memories and lessons from his time at Tottenham with him as he continues his managerial career.
